Działyń
When Fryderyk Chopin passed through the village of Działyń on his way to Obrowo, the village was the property of the Łukowski family. However, in 1842, the village was bought by Juliusz Dziewanowski, the one who hosted young Frycek in Szafarnia in the summer of 1824 and 1825. In 1844 Juliusz Dziewanowski bequeathed the property to his son Dominik referred to as “Domuś” by Chopin in his letters. | |
Piotr of Działyń [Ogończyk coat of arms], a son of Piotr Ogon of Wola and Lubin, is considered an ancestor of the Działyński family, whereas the village is deemed a nest of the family. The village of Działyń had been in the possession of the Działyński family until the end of the 18th century, in 1789 the village was purchased by the Łukowski family, who, in 1830, sold the property to the Jeżewski family. Since 1830 the property had belonged to the Dziewanowski family. Juliusz Dziewanoski died in Działyń in 1844 and his son Dominik also died there in 1881. Cecylia Ciechomska nee Dziewanowska, Dominik’s daughter, bequeathed the village of Działyń to her son Jan, who sold it to a Jewish company, which divided the property into several smaller households and, later, sold the same. The only thing left was the manor house and residuary estate, which was purchased by the Chaciński family in 1923, which lived there until the 40s of the 20th century.
The Holy Trinity Parish Church located in Działyń was founded by the Działyński family in 1640. The family also erected a tomb, which is ruined now. The tomb slabs of Juliusz, Wiktoria, Włodzimierz and Dominik Dziewanowski found in the northern wall of the church are also slightly destroyed. In the parish cemetery located on the way to the village of Rembiocha, there is a well preserved family tomb of the last owners, namely the tomb of the Chaciński family.
In 1842, Ludwika, Chopin’s sister, stayed in Ciechocinek for treatment purposes for the period of 2 months. On her return, she visited the Romocki family of Obrowo and Juliusz and Honorata Borzewska nee Dziewanowska in Działyń. Next, she visited Dominik and Józefa Dziewanowska nee Romocka in Szafarnia. Those visits took her one month.
