Kujawsko-Pomorskie – always on the way

Kujawsko-Pomorskie is a region situated in the northern part of Central Poland. Thanks to this location it is a strategic partner during selection of a perfect place between both the northwest and northeast regions and areas situated in the north and center of Poland.

The region has also a well-developed system of international and state roads, an expanded network of railroad lines, perfect conditions for inland navigation (including two waterways of international importance – E 70 and E 40) as well as crossings of international transit routes running from the north to the south, connecting Southern Europe with Scandinavia, and from the east to the west, connecting Western Europe with the Baltic States and Russia.

One of the major strengths of the region is its human and intellectual potential. There are 31 higher education schools, including 3 universities – University of Technology and Life Sciences, Kazimierz Wielki University in Bydgoszcz, and the biggest university in Northern Poland – Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. School youth and college students from the region win many prestigious awards, in
such fields as computer science, sports and music.

Kujawsko-Pomorskie is a fast growing region. The majority of businesses operate around big cities, including Bydgoszcz, Toruń, Grudziądz, Włocławek and Inowrocław. Foreign c oncerns invest in the
area as well.

All gifts of nature are skillfully utilized in the region. Health resorts in Inowrocław, Ciechocinek and Wieniec-Zdrój, taking advantage of local springs of mineral waters, rock salt and limestone deposits, establishing recreation-spa centers, are visited by throngs of tourists from Poland and Europe.

Both capitals of the region - Bydgoszcz and Toruń – constitute the quintessence of what’s best reflected by the character of the region.  What builds its image? First of all, the fast developing social-economic infrastructure, a colorful history combined with a remarkable, live culture and art, as well as optimism, with which the local residents look into the future.

Bydgoszcz, which history dates back 660 years, is a city, in which the charm of historical granaries and Art Nouveau tenement houses blends with impressive structures of modern architecture and the greenery of parks, reflecting in the water of the Bydgoszcz Canal and two rivers – the Brda and the Vistula. Perfect location, which is assured by, among others, a system of waterways and the local international airport, makesthat Bydgoszcz is presently one of the fastest growing cities of Poland.

Sporting events play a very important role in the calendar of events of Bydgoszcz. Here you can follow the historic events on objects, such as: the Regatta Course in Brdyujście, “Łuczniczka” Sport and Entertainment Hall or “Zawisza” Sport Complex with its athletics stadium. The greatest national, European and worldwide known champions have trained in this city. Also the Olympic heroes come from Bydgoszcz.

Bydgoszcz is also a city of music. There are two national stages – the Pomeranian Philharmonic and the Opera Nova. The city hosts several international music festivals (Bydgoszcz Music Impressions, Bydgoszcz Opera Festival, Musica Antiqua Europae Orientalis), competitions for young performers – violinists and pianists. There is surely something for every fan of any type of pop music in the myriad clubs and pubs of the city.
